Jobs at Equixely

Today's companies and developers struggle to keep pace with the latest vulnerabilities. No proper API security solution exists to protect applications in a way that makes sense effectively, leaving businesses' doors open to cyber attacks unless organizations leverage manual testing by cybersecurity professionals. Not only is this less convenient and more expensive - but it's not scalable. While enterprises have a budget to support such activities, most small to medium-sized businesses cannot afford to engage cybersecurity companies, leading such organizations to release software without any security testing. On top of that, the shortage of resources in the cybersecurity field does not help to speed up the activities and lower the costs. So, as a compromise, many actors use defensive technologies born for different purposes, like WAF & API Gateway platforms, with the illusion of being protected. Indeed, they cannot safeguard applications from new kinds of security flaws, so-called “business logic vulnerabilities”. They are flaws in the design and implementation of an application that allow an attacker to elicit unintended behavior. This potentially enables attackers to manipulate legitimate functionality to achieve a malicious goal. They are often invisible to people who aren't explicitly looking for them, as they typically won't be exposed by normal application use. However, an attacker may be able to exploit behavioral quirks by interacting with the application in ways that developers never intended. For example, cybercriminals might be able to complete a transaction without going through the intended purchase workflow. The impact of any logic flaw depends on what functionality it is related to. The OWASP foundation defines them as the most critical in terms of consequences, as they are deeply tied into the company’s process. Sadly, the lack of educational material on Business Logic flaw causes an insufficient awareness of these kinds o new vulnerabilities.
