Emisari is an online marketplace that makes it easy for people wanting volunteer experiences to connect with organizations they resonate with, book their trip, & pay in one seamless experience. Emisari provides organizations with a way to make a consistent revenue stream & provides tools needed to manage their programs more efficiently. We organize the volunteer world into one platform, creating a bigger impact & giving people the opportunity to have life changing experiences by helping others.

Many people have the desire to volunteer abroad & travel with a purpose, but don’t know how to start. Currently, only agencies connect volunteers with nonprofits. They charge outrageous fees and aren't always transparent. Nonprofits only see a fraction of the funds designated to the program & the trip becomes costly to the volunteer. Similarly, organizations too often lack the volunteers with the proper skills & sufficient funds for their programs.

We are more efficient, more transparent, & cheaper for both volunteers paying & organizations receiving funds directly to their bank accounts. Agencies (GVI, GoAbroad) don’t match volunteers based on skill & are disconnected & expensive. Nonprofit platforms (GivingWay, Idealist) also cannot successfully scale, or provide adequate customer service to build trust. The competition lacks many features, such as direct contact with organizations, cancellation & refund policies, & a payment system so volunteers do not have to carry large sums of cash. Emisari currently offers all of these features.
