Edevate's mission statement is "Higher Education. Lower Cost." The team at Edevate is dedicated to providing greater access to college & career readiness for adult learners. Edevate created the MicroDegree, which helps turn MOOCs and OERs into credentials.
By minimizing the barriers to earning a recognized credential, Edevate allows the 35 Million non-degreed working adults to qualify for the 60% of jobs in the US that require more than a high school diploma but less than a college degree. By establishing an open-source, non-proprietary credential called the MicroDegree, paired with a universal search & discovery engine of over 10000 curated courses, Edevate leverages the disruptive shift towards competency-based hiring. In doing so, more opportunities are created for under-employed, marginalized workers who lack a conventional resume. The MicroDegree can be earned for a variety of alternative credentialing types, including coding boot-camps, certifications and on the job training.
