It’s really hard to give someone access to a file stored in your document management system. It exposes the system and IT doesn't want that. On the other hand, enterprise users need to collaborate with external teams. The only option they have is email. But, email doesn't provide collaboration tools like version control, document timeline, compare etc.

This problem is well perceived by the industry. The latest surveys tell us that there are 71% of companies that have difficulties with external collaboration.

Since email is already approved by the IT, we said to ourselves what if we make document management system that sends emails with documents attached to external collaborators? We did just that but with a catch. The reply email from the external collaborator is placed directly in the document’s timeline. With that the document is placed into context. There are no more missed documents versions, and we have all the messages connected to the right document versions.
