Direct Create (DC) is a curated community platform that provides a dynamic marketplace for Makers and Designers and gives them the power to collaborate on a global platform. It's a unique step to bridge the decades-old gap between the Maker and Consumer communities. The Maker in DC’s ecosystem will comprise individuals or groups who make/produce with their own hands. It’s not a place for corporations or industrial outfits. There is already enough action in the market from these segments, it has left both individuals and communities of Makers on the margins. The marketplace evolved so rapidly in the last century –through industrialisation and outsourcing –that global Maker communities were unable to cope with the integration of modern technology and the new worldwide marketplace. This made them uncompetitive globally. Direct Create empowers its members with modern tools for management, sharing, marketing, operations and logistics, assisting and enabling them to focus on what they know best: to Make! It will use advanced technology to create simplified integration modules for the smallest of the makers. A smartphone is all that Makers anywhere in the world will need to access the Direct Create platform and expose themselves to a global marketplace. On the consumer end, Direct Create enables anyone to get things custom-made by accessing the world’s best makers and designers. It opens the door to more sustainable consumption, as we can start to buy/make what we require rather than picking things off the shelf that might not fully serve our needs. A fully curated online marketplace for Makers, called Makers Market (MM), will be Direct Create’s online marketplace. MM will have hyper-local play as well, allowing local DC community members to host pop-up market opportunities in neighbourhoods. Together, Direct Create and Makers Market will provide a complete ecosystem for Makers to reach markets, changing the way we produce and consume.
