As software “eats the world”, the way we create and operate software itself hasn’t kept up. We’re still using the same basic tools we had 15-20 years ago -- the same stagnant line charts and threshold-based alerts. This made sense when software was “thrown over the wall”, operational data was scarce, and operational attention was (relatively) abundant. But in DevOps territory, data is abundant and our attention is scarce -- and it’s being squandered on old habits. Badly. Our mission is to bring the cooperative power of software to how we run software. We asked ourselves questions like: How would you build observability from the ground up, around teams of people? What proven forms of collaboration from other fields can we bring into ours? How should we think about cause and effect in cloud applications? It’s been said that the first 20 employees of a startup define its culture for decades to come. As a part of our early team, you’ll be molding CtrlStack in your own image -- how you think about products, how you design technology, how you communicate. We’re looking for engineers who are focused on creativity, not rigidity; speed, not gold-plating; and a deep, innate focus on technology serving people, not vice versa. Think jazz improv, not classical recital. You'll get to leverage all of your talents, not just a narrow subset of them.
