For decades, the Consciously team has been passionately supporting causes near and dear to our hearts. After experiencing the highs of progress and the lows of devastating setbacks for the causes we care deeply about, we knew there had to be a better way — something that would have a bigger impact but that we could do more easily and more frequently.  We came to realize that something we do every day, something so simple and so powerful was being overlooked: harnessing our purchasing power. Americans spend trillions of dollars on consumer goods every year. By making a few small product swaps every time we shop, we can create lasting and meaningful change in the world. There was just one problem: access. Information on the company policies and practices for brands we used every day was disparate, and the research was time-consuming.  That’s when the lightbulb went off. We knew we could make it easy for everyone to vote with their dollars. We knew we also had to make it personalized to the causes we all care about. We had to track product swaps so companies would know why they are winning or losing our business. So, we developed Consciously, a browser extension that instantly shares companies’ policies and practices while consumers shop online. We believe that collectively, Consciously will lead to a brighter future for all. Consciously is, and will always be, a Public Benefits Corporation, which means that the pursuit of profits can never outweigh our obligation to our users and our commitment to doing good in the world. Users can currently choose to support products made in the USA, cruelty-free, small businesses, women-owned businesses, Black owned businesses, and more with Consciously. In 2022, we plan to launch environmental causes, political giving, and more. Consciously is currently on Amazon but we plan to expand to other shopping sites in the near future.
