Manages engineering design-related aspects of a multi-discipline project or multiple small to medium projects, including engineering schedule and budget performance, quality of engineering solutions and deliverables, coordination or design, site plan approval through permitting, specifications, procurement, and construction.

• Begins to proactively apply knowledge of the Quality Program to ensure that the deliverables are accurate and compliant. Supports continuous improvement of guides and standards.

• Knowledge of major substation equipment and its functions.
• Ability to select and specify substation equipment.

• Complete proposals for assigned department with internal marketing team.
• Maintains understanding of performance and financials related to the assigned project task.

• Transmission Line Project Management:

Scoping of Transmission Line Projects.
Coordination with various stakeholders throughout the project life cycle, including project management, right of way, environmental, siting, station engineering, telecom, distribution, and construction.

• Scoping of Transmission Line Projects.

• The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of civil design for substations, including structural analysis, steel design and detailing, foundation design, bus stress analysis, oil containment design, substation equipment review, support of substation physical design and equipment layout, interface with site development design team, and some permitting involvement.

• Develops understanding of assigned client standards, policies and procedures by reading and applying specific design guides, standards, systems and applicable engineering codes.
• Develops an understanding and complies with Commonwealth Associates quality program.

• Assist in performing power system studies, including stability, power flow, contingency, and transient analyses under supervision.
• Support ISO model building in PSS/E and PSCAD as directed by senior engineers.

Ability to manage up. Provides input, and supporting data, to the Directors and Leadership teams to make strategic business decisions.

Supports the implementation of objectives, policies, and procedures, with the ability to course correct to exploit additional opportunities uncovered or mitigate to correct a lack of success.
Manages the performance of individual projects, project teams and direct reports through goal setting, frequent group meetings, individual PMIs, peer reviews, or lessons learned amongst others.
Observes, monitors, reports, and communicates on the success of each project and project team using multiple means (lessons learned, data, reviews, surveys, meetings). This information will be shared with company leadership routinely.
