Giving women the fair advantage. Tailored coding education and career support

Code First: Girls helps women get into tech. And when we say we help women get into tech, we really do help women get into tech. We run a social enterprise that works with companies to help them with their tech talent, and work directly with women to overcome one of the single biggest barriers to entering the tech industry - education.

In 2017, female Programmers and software developer made up only 3.9% of tech and telco professionals in the UK. That number is down from 10% in 2007. We want to change society and the face of the UK economy by teaching 20,000 women how to code for free by the end of 2020.

Over the past 4 years we’ve taught 6000+ women how to code and delivered £4.2 million worth of free coding education. Our alumnae have been hired by companies ranging from Twitter and The Guardian, to Facebook, Thoughtworks and NASA.

Our community is doing amazing things. Visit codefirstgirls.org.uk to find out more.
