Similar to a GPS assisting drivers, our surgical navigation (surginav) technology assists surgeons in visualizing, planning and executing surgeries. This enables minimally invasive (keyhole) approaches and reduces execution errors, thereby increasing the likelihood of a successful surgery and reducing pain, cost and complications.
The unique core technical challenges of surgical navigation are (1) precise tracking of the tips of tools in relation to the anatomical region of interest; and (2) accurate registration between the anatomical region of interest and its computer model (“virtual patient”), typically constructed from volume and surface scanners data;
