90% of trade is carried by sea and currently used ships are heavy polluters. We tackle this problem with an innovative patent-pending, autonomous ship that is powered solely by wind energy, making it the first high-tech ship that produces zero emission during operation. The ship's main propulsion is an Airborne Wind Energy (AWE) system, whose main component is a kite that flies at an altitude of 100 - 300m. Combined with a newly designed ship hull, the energy of the highly available and strong high-altitude winds can directly be transformed into forward motion of the ship. Since the ship is powered solely by wind, it does not only make our solution truly sustainable, but it also reduces operating costs to a minimum. The ship is also capable of calling at any port without being dependent on complex infrastructure modifications. We believe that flexible point-to-point connections, possibilities for short term bookings and just-in-time delivery are crucial for a modern shipping industry.
