Cargo careers

Cargo was a connected car platform which included a device that plugged into the dash of any car, connecting the systems to the cloud.

The device ran embedded Linux and read from the vehicle's data network (CANbus). GPS and GLONASS sensors were used for location services, and a 9-axis gyro/acceleratometer/compass allowed us to work with insurance vendors to potentially offer mileage based and good driver discount insurance.

A cloud platform enabled access to streaming and aggregate data from the connected vehicles for per app whitelisted and anonymized data.

Cargo also ran third party apps and services in containers on the device which acted as an IoT hub for connected devices in the car such as cameras, baby seat monitors, stereos, alarm systems. Services also pre-processed raw data and sent aggregate data and alerts to the cloud via cellular and bluetooth for under $4 / month.
