Captable is the largest crowdfunding platform in Brazil. In three short years the company raised over R$ 90 million for more than 59 startups – largely due to having one of the biggest investor communities in Venture Capital in Brazil, more than 7000 individual investors. The crowdfunding platform pioneered the concept of community rounds, integrating, in one investment round, individual investors and multiple types of Venture Capital players, such as angel investors – and groups –, accelerators, Venture Funds and Private Equity management funds. In 2022, household names in the business chose to invest in Captable's community rounds: Prana Capital, one of the largest wealth management players in Latin America; Bertha Capital, Venture Capital manager, including Corporate Venture funds; and Bossanova Capital, the most active Venture Capital investor in Latin America. Captable has pushed the envelope once more by being the first crowdfunding platform to offer a secondary market for startup investment bonds, namely Captable Marketplace. Since July, CVM, the regulatory agency for Brazil's capital market, has implemented a new piece of regulation that enabled platforms to offer this new type of liquidity opportunity for investors. Furthermore, larger limits have been set for round sizes, startup revenue and individual investment limits. Respectively, R$ 15 million; up to R$ 40 million – or R$ 80 million within the same economic entity –; and R$ 20 thousand per calendar year (for non-qualified investors). Since its introduction, in July, Captable Marketplace has facilitated over R$ 300 thousand in transaction volume. In 2022 alone, Captable has successfully completed 12 investment rounds and raised over R$ 19 million. It is also poised to maintain its historic leadership within the Brazilian equity crowdfunding market – Captable has been responsible for over 40% of the volume transacted in equity crowdfunding platforms in Brazil in 2021.
