Calibrex careers
Calibrex is a fitness smart device. It provides several important metrics related to weightlifting and other similar activities. It can do this by both providing real time feedback about the speed and balance of the user while performing an exercise, and through accumulating data to track progress and analyze trends over time. Calibrex is two pocket-sized smart devices that attach to both ends of a barbell using specially engineered magnets. Proximity sensors track the distance between the barbell and the floor at about 100times/sec. In this way, the form (i.e how level the bar is) and velocity of execution of an exercise can be monitored. The devices connect to a smartphone app, which will track your performance in real-time including velocity, reps, resting periods in between sets, imbalances while lifting etc.
Weightlifters tend to execute their lifts unevenly, leading to muscular imbalances that can lead to serious injuries over time. While researching this problem, it became clear that there was no convenient way to tackle this problem on the market. The solutions currently offered are complex, cumbersome, expensive, and ultimately inaccessible to the vast majority of people.
When Calibrex detects that a barbell is being lifted unevenly, it notifies the user by beeping on the side which is lower, or needs adjustment. At the same time, each rep is compared with the previous ones with respect to velocity, and reinforcement-based feedback is provided, to inform and motivate the user to execute his lifts at the required level. This is called velocity-based training, and is a method employed by the best sports trainers in the world to optimize performance training.
This data, accumulated over time, can be leveraged to track progress and identify meaningful patterns in the user’s training. By fusing data analytics with exercise science, Calibrex will be able to use these patterns to provide quantitative and qualitative information to the user about his training.
