Burg careers
Burg is a financial advisory and data intelligence firm serving owners, operators and investors in the global language industry. Our leadership team consists of 5 partners based in the UK, Germany and Hong Kong. They include a former CEO of a PE-funded business generating $50m EBITDA, a former CFO of a $100bn asset manager, a former managing director of a $300m education publisher, a former Chief Product Officer at an edtech unicorn and an investment banker who completed $1.5bn in education related transactions.
We are on a mission to increase biodiversity with education.
Population growth and rising consumption are the primary drivers of biodiversity loss and climate change. When levels of education rise (in particular for girls and young women) fertility typically falls.
Language education is the first step to access and understand existing knowledge.
At Burg we enable the global language ecosystem to thrive by identifying best practices and allowing as many participants as possible to succeed.
With over 11,000 language company records we maintain the world's largest market intelligence platform. Our insights get participants funded and accelerate sustainable, profitable growth.
HISTORY
Since 2010 we have been involved in many of the transactions that have transformed the language industry. Among them the US$900m acquisition of Grupo Multi in Brazil by Pearson, the US$300m acquisition of Wall Street English by Baring Private Equity Asia, the sale of Mexico's Harmon Hall by Nexxus Capital, and the sale of Learnlight to Beechtree Private Equity in Europe.
