Everyone at Branch has a rich background in gaming. Before joining the Thiel Fellowship, I dropped out of high school to build Minecraft servers. My co-founders Connor Hollasch and Charles Vien and I made fortunes at an early age building massive communities in Minecraft. We still operate three large Minecraft server networks today. Back in the day, everyone on Minecraft servers would checkout with PayPal. Unfortunately, my account would frequently get locked because I was under 18. This frustration is what led me to discover crypto in 2012. I wished that everyone could use this! To say I’m excited about the opportunities and freedom that web3 games can give their players would be a gross understatement. I have literally been wishing for this moment since I was in middle school. We can be the ones to build the platform we always dreamed of having. We're taking the lessons we learned from Minecraft and building a new web3 game right in the browser. It will be: - Free to play - Play and earn - Empowering for UGC - Instantly playable (no download/signups/mess) - Abstract (a crypto game for non-crypto people) We think a combination of these mechanics will make our studios flagship game Castaways the largest onboarder to web3.
