SoundAlert is an application that allows users who are deaf, hard of hearing, and elderly to feel safe, secure and more comfortable in knowing they will be alerted to sounds that happen around them, as well as being able to live more independently. SoundAlert functions through recognizing and analyzing sounds from the environment and converting these into vibrations, on-screen notifications, and flashing lights which can be displayed on a smartphone, smartwatch or other portable device. It is capable of detecting an extensive variety of indoor and outdoor sounds, including fire alarms, door bells, landlines, and home appliances among others.
The SoundAlert application can also be connected to other devices to both increase the range of detection and to add extra forms of notification depending on the user’s requirements.
