We are a mission-driven organization. We believe there is no free society without a free flow of information. Borg’s Mission is to ensure everyone has unlimited access to the best information. Working at Borg can give a sense of satisfaction and meaning. We have taken on a problem that many deem impossible to solve, but solving this problem would make a tremendous contribution to the world. We tend to attract people looking for more than just a source of income who thrive outside their comfort zone. The thing people appreciate the most about working at Borg is how many decisions they get to make. If we hire you, we trust you can figure out the most important thing to work on. You will get clearly defined goals, and it’s up to you to figure out the best way to achieve them. In short: no micromanagement but lots of feedback and coaching. We work remotely, but individual teams try to spend a few weeks each year living and working together from the same location. We will typically rent a big house in some beautiful spot like Bali or the coast of Portugal. You get a lot of flexibility when and where you work, and at the same time, you get to hang out with your colleagues while traveling the world. We organize ourselves into small teams (“squads”) working on particular projects. These teams typically have a daily standup call and work mostly asynchronously apart from that. We are heavy users of the tools for remote work, and we continue testing new tools as they come out to make sure we have the best stack possible.
