The Indonesian e-commerce industry is one of the fastest growing in the world. With a super young and well educated population, fuelled by recent investments and entries from giants like Alibaba, Tencent, JD and Softbank, the local digital market is poised for more massive innovation and change. Unicorn marketplaces such as Lazada, Bukalapak and Tokopedia have succeeded in bringing online millions of Indonesians to either shop or become small business owners. An entire ecosystem has sprung up as startups race to build fulfilment centres, last mile fleets, and of course, digital wallets and payment services. Until today, no one has focussed on the actual physical products that are being sold and bought, and many goods are still being imported via illegal, expensive unstable door to door channels. Ayoimport's goal is to help SMEs in Indonesia to legally source and import products from abroad, legally and efficiently, via a localized website or app. We want to help level the playing field by allowing smaller, less powerful businesses and individuals, the same access to products and prices that bigger more established business enjoy.
