Avexegen Therapeutics is an early stage development company working on novel and revolutionary therapies for the $10 Billion GI Market. Our lead drug candidate, Neuregulin-4 (NRG-4), offers a completely new approach to directly heal damaged and inflamed gut tissue in patients with Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as in premature infants with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).

NRG-4 is a naturally occurring peptide present in GI tissue as well as human breast milk. We have demonstrated that NRG-4 is deficient in diseased GI tissue, and our preclinical models demonstrate significant restorative effects with NRG-4 treatment. NRG-4 would be the first therapy to directly target and heal damaged gut tissue in IBD patients, while complementing available therapies. Furthermore, NRG-4 would be the first approved therapy for NEC.
