We are on a mission to make it simple, civil, and valuable for people to react to the world around them. To say what they care about -- the text, the images, the videos, the products -- and why. The product is a serious, fun front-end challenge: a 3rd party widget that integrates deeply into site content on both desktops and smartphones, yet is simple to configure using HTML attributes and/or CSS and/or JSON. We've got a solid product, but there's a lot yet to do (and like all coders, we always want to rework small bits and whole chunks of the code). You'll have a lot of say on how the product will be built, and we need you to have an eye to the future. We're a remote team, with a preference for people in either Portland, OR or NYC. Flexible hours, open communication, respectful environment. As employee #1, you're going to help us pick the perks. We care a lot about work/life balance (one cofounder has a busy resident wife and a 6 year old), and a lot about work itself being exciting on the job, but contained to reasonable hours.
