Moby.Read: In early grades, reading curricula often call for assessment of oral reading fluency (ORF) to place students, monitor progress and guide teaching. However, traditional ORF assessment is time-intensive and it typically includes several sources of uncontrolled, irrelevant variance.

Moby.Read is an automated, self-administered oral reading assessment, developed by AMI, that improves the efficiency, specificity, and consistency of ORF measurement. Moby.Read was released in January 2019. The product uses speech recognition technology to score key oral reading fluency measures, including rate, accuracy, comprehension, and expression. The Moby.Read integrated teacher interface allows teachers to listen immediately to audio recordings of student performance – reading, retelling and summarizing key details, and answering short-answer questions, thus providing them with immediate, accurate, personalized data that supports individual instruction to improve student achievement.
