The current landscape for time data (events recorded in a dApp or cApp) is at best fragmented, with multiple, independent time nodes all operating in isolation. As yet, there's no efficient way for these separate nodes to operate and communicate with each other to share data, transact, or exchange value. So you might be asking, what are these “time” nodes by the way? That’s a great question. We’ve identified 4 primary sources of time data, sources that store and can send time data. Humans, like you and me. We store time data. There are also engineers/developers, who build on and off-chain applications like FTX or Zoom, which stores time data too. Next up are organizations and enterprises like United Airlines, Uber, or Marriott Hotels. They store time data. And last but not least, IoT devices like your smart clocks, smart alarm systems, smart microwaves, and refrigerators even - they all store time data too. So essentially the painpoint we’re attacking is time data asymmetry - everyone (and everything, i.e. databases) has a different way of recording when something is happening. It’s fractured. It’s disconnected. Analog is trying to normalize that for all participants. In essence, Analog wants to convert time data into 0’s and 1’s, bits and bytes, that all participants understand, like a new language… and act as the flight traffic controller to move them where they need to go, safely, securely, and most importantly, privately. Our mission is clear and simple: we’re here to organize the world’s time data and make it universally accessible and useful to all.
