Culture and benefits at A Vinyl Bar in Shibuya
Culture overview
Our mission is to expand the bounds of human creativity. **We hire the best.** We’re looking for curious, talented, and passionate entrepreneurs who are both subject-matter experts and masters of none. To us, that means you are the most technically proficient, “T-shaped” person we can find with a relevant “major” and “minor” of expertise. We also abide strongly to the concept that we must all act like a founder, meaning that no task is too big or too small - and our sense of personal success is intrinsically tied to the company or greater team’s success. **We pay for the best.** To hire, retain, and instill confidence in the best, we offer generous compensation and equity for a company at our stage. Of course, that won’t be a Google salary - but you’re not going to live on ramen either. We believe so deeply in the quality of our team being our primary driver of success that, as the CEO, I will sooner miss a paycheck than miss out on the next great designer, AI researcher, or full-stack savant. That said, we are well-capitalized and able to offer job stability for years, not months. **This won’t be easy.** Even with the brightest minds onboard, this is a moonshot. We’re aiming to build the next great consumer Internet company while inevitably competing with massive (albeit slow-moving) incumbents. Building the next YouTube-type company means nailing creators, content, and consumers. That can be tricky, but it is our singular ambition. **It’ll be fun.** At the end of the day, doing something this big and meaningful can be the most challenging and the most fun thing you do in your career. We’re committed to truly enjoying the process, not taking ourselves too seriously, and building a culture that makes every day better than the last. It gives us confidence to know that we are so advantaged in our pursuit: we have the founding team, investors, industry relationships, and deep ties to the creative and artist community that other startups lack.
