AngelList Talent started with a simple observation: the first thing a startup does after raising money is hire. What began as an email list matching qualified candidates with freshly funded startups grew into a marketplace built on two then-radical rules: candidates talk directly to the founders and engineers they'd work with — never third-party recruiters — and every job shows salary and equity up front, before any other major job platform required it.
As recruiting became a business of its own, AngelList organized into two: AngelList Venture, focused on funds and syndicates, and AngelList Talent, focused on hiring. By 2022, more than 8 million candidates and 150,000 startups had used AngelList Talent to find each other.
Two distinct businesses no longer made sense under one brand, so AngelList Talent spun out as an independent company, AL Talent, Inc., and rebranded as Wellfound. Same marketplace, same team, new name. Read the announcement →
