AngelList Talent is now Wellfound

Today, we’re excited to share that AngelList Talent is branching out into its own company: Wellfound. AngelList Venture is now, simply, AngelList. It’s a change that enables both businesses to take the world’s startup community to new heights.

How it Started

Since 2010 AngelList’s goal has been to help startups by eliminating the frictions along their way.

We started with AngelList Venture, to make it easier for startups to raise money. Our first product connected founders with a list of angel investors–hence the name. Two years later, we launched AngelList Talent to support startups in the next step of their journey–hiring their teams.

Together, we’ve had a massive impact on the startup world:

• AngelList Venture has facilitated funding in over 12k startups and has $14B+ in assets supported for fund managers

• AngelList Talent has helped 150k startups and 8M+ candidates connect with each other

As the startup world has matured, so have we. AngelList Venture and AngelList Talent have grown into distinct businesses. We serve different customer bases within startups and the broader startup ecosystem, and their needs are constantly evolving.

Where We’re Going

To serve our audiences better, we're branching out as separate companies. We’re thrilled to reintroduce AngelList Talent as Wellfound and for AngelList Venture continue on as AngelList.

With this evolution, we're doing for ourselves what we’ve been doing for startups all along: eliminating friction. As separate companies, Wellfound and AngelList will hone in even further on the needs of our distinct audiences and ship products faster.

For Wellfound, this means doubling down on our mission to help the startup world find what's next. Our new name embodies that spirit of discovery.

We’ve learned over the last decade that many people don’t want to just find a job, they want to find something to be a part of, especially in the startup space. And the way people are finding something to be a part of changing. Beyond a list of jobs, people want guidance on where to look and insight beyond the job description.

Looking ahead, this belief will be our focus as we provide the tools, information, and support to help talent discover and connect with the right startups for them. We know that by doing so, it'll lead to better hires. This is especially important for startups where the right addition can change the trajectory of the company.

Some recent releases are examples of that:

• Discover - to help you find new startups and industries through content, founder interviews, featured company lists, and more.

• A revamp of our beloved weekly newsletter to highlight more content around tech trends, industry news, and recently funded startups.

• An inaugural Startups of the Year list, launching in December.
