The Role
The Company:
Nexus Events is a quickly scaling start-up building a platform that fully virtualizes what happens at an in-person professional networking event. We have a virtual tradeshow and conference product with networking, booths and talks that creates an engaging social experience for attendees and provides an opportunity for effective lead generation for businesses.
Our founder is an engineering grad from Stanford, and helped to develop over 700 companies from the pre-seed to pre-IPO stage as the founder and CEO of StartX - a startup accelerator and founder community associated with Stanford University.
As a remote company operating from 5 countries, we understand remote work and are constantly investing in our team by encouraging autonomy, clear communication, and discipline. We've recently closed our seed round and are now scaling our product and preparing to launch 50+ conferences in the next few months.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a hungry, talented engineer who wants to make a big impact at this early stage in our roadmap.
As a full stack engineer, you will be responsible for building out the intuitive, interactive experiences that our users need to manage and attend virtual tradeshows, conferences and mixers, as well as determining the backend architecture and endpoints that we need to support those features.
Specifically, you will:
- Write elegant, well-tested code
- Participate in standups, code reviews and retrospectives with our remote team
- Work closely with our Engineering Lead and the engineering team to make architecture and design decisions
- Help make sure everything runs smoothly & safely in production
- Set down standards around development, code review and deployment
- Bringing a unique perspective to problem solving
Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of software development experience; object oriented design skills and knowledge of website design and usability
- Strong background of JavaScript development and use of JavaScript libraries
- Proficient in CSS
- Strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails, Python and/or Node.js
- BS or BA in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience
