Head of Engineering

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Lead Engineer to help us execute on the current product roadmap, and build an engineering team. Ideally you are an experienced engineer with expertise in architecting solutions at a fintech - experience building products from the ground up is a plus. You will become an expert on all things in commercial lending and drive that understanding across engineering, data science, and product management.

You have experience with software architecture design and cloud-based infrastructure configuration and are enthusiastic to launch a product from the ground up.

You will act as both a technology and business executive, making decisions that will impact the current and future operations of the company. The ideal candidate has deep technical experience and understanding of the commercial lending industry, either directly or indirectly. The candidate must have demonstrated results and success in a Lead Engineer/Management role, preferably in a high-growth-startup environment.

Define and drive the engineering strategy that aligns with the Marco vision
Develop data analytics and visualization tools, back-end operations, and front-end UX
Build an engineering and data science team
Evaluate 3rd party systems and solutions and develop business case for build/buy decisions
Manage technology budget

Qualifications

5+ years functional experience in Software Engineering and/or Data Science
2+ years domain experience working in/with the commercial finance or lending industry (directly or indirectly)
Data science experience, particularly as it relates to risk and loan portfolio management
You have deep knowledge of platform technologies
You learn new technologies quickly and can comfortably and effectively discuss the tradeoffs and benefits of various approaches with business partners
You’re committed to collaboration and you are able to work well with other business units to build iterative solutions that continuously deliver value
Experience with failure (e.g. product launch) and ability to course correct
Familiarity with loan management systems like ABL soft, factor fox, etc preferred
