QBA is seeking an experienced 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 to lead enterprise data architecture and database modernization initiatives supporting the 𝗦𝗘𝗖'𝘀 𝗘𝗗𝗚𝗔𝗥 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺.

This is a senior technical leadership opportunity for an architect with deep expertise in 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗦𝗤𝗟, 𝗔𝗪𝗦 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀, and 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲-𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

You will define the target data architecture, establish technical standards, lead database migration strategies, and guide engineering teams in building highly available, secure, scalable, and resilient cloud-native data platforms.

You will work closely with application architects, database engineers, cloud engineers, DevSecOps teams, cybersecurity specialists, and business stakeholders.

𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝟭: 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 & 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

• Define and lead enterprise data architecture and modernization roadmaps.
• Establish architecture standards for transactional, relational, analytical, and distributed data platforms.
• Lead logical and physical data modeling, database design, and architecture reviews.
• Define database availability, replication, partitioning, indexing, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Establish standards for data quality, integrity, governance, and lifecycle management.

𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝟮: 𝗔𝗪𝗦 & 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗦𝗤𝗟 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲

• Design cloud-native database solutions using AWS and PostgreSQL.
• Architect solutions using 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗦𝗤𝗟 and 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗗𝗦 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗦𝗤𝗟.
• Leverage AWS services including Amazon S3, AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), AWS Glue, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, and KMS.
• Design highly available, fault-tolerant, scalable, and secure database environments.
• Establish database performance optimization and monitoring standards.

𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝟯: 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

• Lead enterprise database modernization and migration initiatives to AWS-hosted PostgreSQL platforms.
• Develop migration, transformation, reconciliation, and validation strategies.
• Identify and resolve legacy database dependencies, schema incompatibilities, stored procedures, and application integration challenges.
• Minimize migration risks and application downtime.
• Establish performance baselines and validate migrated database workloads.

𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝟰: 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

• Define database security architecture, including encryption, access controls, auditing, and data protection standards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal security requirements.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps and cybersecurity teams to implement security throughout the data lifecycle.
• Define monitoring, capacity planning, availability, backup, and disaster recovery requirements.

𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝟱: 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

• Mentor database engineers, developers, and data specialists.
• Provide architectural direction to engineering and application development teams.
• Collaborate with cloud, integration, security, and DevSecOps architects.
• Develop architecture documentation, reference designs, standards, and technical decision records.
• Communicate complex architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 & 𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗦𝗞𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗦

• 10+ years of experience in database engineering, data architecture, or related disciplines.
• 5+ years in a senior or lead data architecture position.
• Deep expertise in 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗦𝗤𝗟 and open-source relational database technologies.
• Strong experience designing and implementing database solutions on 𝗔𝗪𝗦.
• Practical experience with 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗿𝗮 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗦𝗤𝗟 and 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗗𝗦 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗦𝗤𝗟.
• Strong knowledge of relational data modeling, normalization, indexing, partitioning, query optimization, and transaction processing.
• Experience designing highly available, scalable, resilient, and recoverable database platforms.
• Proven experience leading database modernization and migration initiatives.
• Strong understanding of database security, encryption, access management, backup, recovery, and auditing.
• Experience working in Agile and DevSecOps environments.
• Excellent technical leadership, communication, and architecture documentation skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦

• Experience migrating enterprise databases from commercial or legacy platforms to PostgreSQL or Aurora PostgreSQL.
• Experience with AWS DMS, AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT), and database migration technologies.
• Experience with AWS Glue, Amazon S3, CloudWatch, Secrets Manager, and KMS.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated database deployment.
• Experience with APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, data lineage, and data quality.
• Familiarity with FISMA, NIST, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
• Experience supporting federal, financial, regulatory, or other mission-critical enterprise systems.
• AWS, PostgreSQL, or database architecture certifications.
