AI Backend Developer at RapidData

About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Backend Developer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Generative AI, and Agentic AI integration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend applications while integrating AI-powered capabilities and intelligent autonomous agents into existing and new products.

The candidate should have a strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices architecture, LLMs, AI agents, and experience building AI-powered applications and automation workflows.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
2. Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices.
3. Integrate AI/ML services and Large Language Models (LLMs) into backend applications.
4. Work with AI APIs such as OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, or other AI service providers.
5. Design and develop AI-powered chatbots, intelligent automation, text generation, and document processing solutions.
6. Develop and integrate Agentic AI systems capable of performing multi-step tasks and autonomous workflows.
7. Implement AI agents with tool calling, function calling, reasoning, and decision-making capabilities.
8. Build multi-agent workflows and AI-driven automation systems.
9. Integrate RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) solutions into backend applications.
10. Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms using Spring Security and JWT. 11.Design and optimize database schemas and queries.
11. Integrate third-party APIs and external services.
12. Ensure application performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
13. Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and well-documented code.
14. Collaborate with frontend developers, AI engineers, and product teams.
15. Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve application issues.
16. Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and deployment activities.

Required Technical Skills

• Backend Development
• Strong proficiency in Java.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA.
• Good understanding of REST API development and Microservices Architecture.
• Knowledge of Spring Security and JWT authentication.

AI, Generative AI and Agentic AI Integration

• Experience integrating AI APIs such as OpenAI, Google Gemini, or Anthropic Claude.
• Understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering and structured AI responses.
• Experience developing AI-powered chatbots and automation solutions.
• Understanding of Agentic AI concepts, AI agents, and autonomous workflows.
• Knowledge of AI tool calling, function calling, and agent orchestration.
• Understanding of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) concepts.
• Familiarity with embeddings and vector databases.

Database andTools

• Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub/GitLab.
• Knowledge of Maven or Gradle.
• Understanding of Docker and containerization.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is an advantage.

Good to Have

• Experience with Spring AI or LangChain4j.
• Knowledge of vector databases such as Pinecone.
• Experience building autonomous AI agents and multi-agent systems.
• Familiarity with Agentic AI frameworks and orchestration tools.
• Experience implementing AI tool calling and function execution.
• Understanding of human-in-the-loop workflows and AI guardrails.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments.
• Knowledge of asynchronous processing and event-driven architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Passion for Generative AI, Agentic AI, and emerging technologies.
