Sr. Full Stack Software Engineer, AI & Agentic Solutions

Summary:

KUKA's Business Apps team is responsible for developing, maintaining, and evolving the business applications that support back-office operations across the Americas (AMER) region. We build and integrate software solutions that enable business processes, connect enterprise systems, and improve operational efficiency across the organization.

We are looking for an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer with a strong background in modern web application development and a passion for AI innovation. This role will play a key part in leading our team's AI transformation, designing and implementing intelligent, agentic solutions that integrate with our existing enterprise applications and business processes.

The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on experience in agentic AI development, cloud architecture, and enterprise application integration. You will help define technical direction, establish best practices, and turn emerging AI capabilities into secure, scalable, and production ready solutions.

NOTE: Although this is a remote role, we will only consider those who are within commutable distance of our corporate office in Sterling Heights, MI as there will be some occasional onsite requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

AI and Agentic Development

• Lead the technical evolution of Business Apps toward AI enabled applications and agentic solutions.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI agents and multi agent workflows using the Microsoft Agent Framework (MAF).
• Integrate AI agents with enterprise systems, APIs, business data, and existing application workflows.
• Establish best practices for agent orchestration, tool integration, context management, reliability, security, evaluation, and monitoring.
• Identify opportunities to apply AI to business processes, improving automation, productivity, and decision making.

Full Stack Software Engineering

• Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications and backend services supporting KUKA's AMER business operations.
• Build scalable REST APIs and enterprise integrations, with a preference for ASP.NET Core and React.js.
• Design and implement event driven architectures to enable reliable, decoupled communication between applications and services.
• Develop and optimize solutions using relational and NoSQL databases.
• Contribute to software architecture, code quality, testing strategies, documentation, and engineering standards.

Cloud and Technical Leadership

• Design and deploy cloud native solutions, preferably using Microsoft Azure.
• Apply cloud first principles to application architecture, scalability, security, availability, and cost optimization.
• Guide technical decisions and mentor other developers, promoting modern engineering practices and continuous learning.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, functional analysts, and other IT teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve our software development lifecycle through AI assisted development and automation.

Required Qualifications:

• Extensive professional experience in full stack software development, including modern web applications and backend services.
• Strong experience with React.js or a comparable modern frontend framework.
• Strong experience with ASP.NET Core, REST APIs, and backend application architecture.
• Hands on experience designing and implementing AI agents or agentic AI solutions, including integration with external tools, APIs, and enterprise systems.
• Experience with the Microsoft Agent Framework (MFA), or closely related agent development frameworks, with the ability to apply this knowledge to production solutions.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure. Experience with AWS or Google Cloud is also valuable.
• Strong understanding of event driven architecture, asynchronous processing, messaging, and distributed systems.
• Extensive experience with relational databases and SQL, as well as NoSQL databases.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including object oriented design, design patterns, testing, security, and maintainable code.
• Ability to make sound architectural decisions, communicate technical concepts clearly, and work effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building and operating production grade AI agents and multi agent systems.
• Familiarity with Azure AI services, Microsoft Foundry, Azure messaging services, and enterprise identity and access management.
• Experience with AI tool calling, retrieval augmented generation (RAG), structured outputs, and grounding AI responses in enterprise data.
• Knowledge of AI evaluation, observability, responsible AI, and security considerations for agentic systems.
• Experience integrating enterprise applications, ERP systems, and business process automation solutions.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, infrastructure as code, and cloud deployment practices.
• Experience mentoring developers and driving technical initiatives across a software engineering team.
