Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the U.S. Navy's Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) program, a top-priority national hypersonic weapon system development effort. The selected candidate will provide independent technical review and assessment of system architecture, interface, and requirements documentation delivered by the program's Lead Systems Integrator (LSI).

As part of the Government's technical support team, you will evaluate the completeness, consistency, traceability, and technical adequacy of LSI deliverables, and prepare clear, actionable comments that support Government decision-making at major milestones and technical reviews. This role is well suited to an experienced systems engineer who works comfortably across complex weapon system programs and can communicate technical concerns effectively to Government and industry stakeholders.

Job Duties

  • Review and assess LSI-developed system architecture products, including system/sub-system architecture descriptions, SysML Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts
  • Evaluate Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Requirements Specifications (IRSs), and Interface Design Descriptions (IDD) for completeness, consistency, and compatibility across system elements
  • Analyze system, subsystem, component specifications for clarity, verifiability, and bidirectional traceability to higher-level requirements
  • Prepare, track, and adjudicate formal comments using Comment Resolution Matrices (CRMs); support comment resolution meetings with the LSI and Government stakeholders
  • Identify technical risks, gaps, ambiguities, and inconsistencies in deliverables and recommend corrective actions
  • Support Government preparation for and participation in technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) by assessing entrance/exit criteria and LSI review materials
  • Assess requirements verification approaches and Verification Cross-Reference Matrices (VCRMs)
  • Support configuration and change management activities, including review of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and requirements change requests for technical impact
  • Participate in Interface Control Working Groups (ICWGs) and other technical working groups
  • Prepare technical briefings and assessment summaries for Government program leadership
  • Collaborate with Government leads, other support contractors, and LSI engineering staff in a professional, objective manner

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of systems engineering experience (DoD weapon system, missile, or strategic system programs preferred)

Required Clearance

  • Active DoD Secret clearance required to start
  • U.S. citizenship required

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and commenting on architecture, interface, and requirements documentation for complex defense systems
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering processes in accordance with DoD guidance
  • Experience with requirements decomposition, allocation, and traceability
  • Experience developing and adjudicating comments through formal CRM processes
  • Familiarity with the DoD technical review process (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to produce concise, defensible, and actionable comments
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent document reviews

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting hypersonic, strategic missile, or Navy weapon system programs
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS, Cameo / DOORS Next Generation or Jama
  • Experience with MBSE tools and languages (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw, SysML)
  • Knowledge of shipboard or ground launcher integration, weapon control, or fire control system interfaces
  • Familiarity with MIL-STDs
  • INCOSE CSEP or ESEP certification
  • Experience working in an independent assessment or technical advisory role supporting a Government program office

Target salary range $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
