About Toolqit
About 45,000 managed service providers ("MSPs") serve as outsourced IT departments for millions of small and mid-sized businesses. Every ticket, device, outage...every single IT decision for those businesses runs through the MSP. The tools these MSPs use to keep their clients' lights on haven't changed in decades.
At Toolqit, we're building the new place for MSPs to work (and it's the greatest place techs have ever worked). We've rebuilt the entire MSP base of operations to be AI-native and systematically removed all the busywork and admin work MSPs were doing. Techs today are a magnitude faster and happier with Toolqit.
We're a seed-stage company backed by top investors and advised by some of the most well-known and accomplished people in the IT community. Our founding team has both worked deeply with MSPs and built some of the world's best automation software. Many techs already spend every moment of every day in Toolqit.
Founding Engineer role
You'll report to our CTO and work directly with MSP customers to build next-gen IT products for Toolqit. You'll own several products end to end and help customers make a seamless (and joyful) move to Toolqit. At the same time, you'll help with the long-horizon task of building a first-in-its-industry AI-native MSP operations platform.
As one of our first engineering hires, you'll play a massive role in defining Toolqit's culture, its pace, and its ability to completely rethink the current stack in a way that has never been done.
What you'll do
- Design solutions that let MSPs get the most out of every technician hour
- Learn from customer conversations and come up with features on your own that change how MSPs work
- Build well-designed products. We have an extreme focus on user experience, not only the feature set, so you'll craft workflows that make a technician's day dramatically faster
- Own new Toolqit products from first conversation through rollout and customer integration
Requirements
- Track record of shipping high-quality products and understanding what matters in driving use
- Understand the business and customer experience impact of engineering decisions
- Iterate both the product and your workflows extremely quickly and thrive in a startup environment
- In the San Francisco office 4-5 days a week
Technical requirements
- Strong full-stack engineer with production experience across frontend and backend
- Strong frontend and UX skills: you can turn a rough idea into a polished, fast interface
- Experience designing data models and APIs, and integrating with messy third-party APIs and webhooks
- Experience building with LLMs in production, including agents, tool use, and evals
Application Process
- Screening call with member of our team, followed by a longer technical interview.
- Paid work trial (at FT pay rate), which matriculates to full-time
