About the job
We're UprootSecurity. Small team, big ideas, building a Compliance Automation Platform. We need an intern who wants to actually build things, not sit through six weeks of onboarding slides.
No back-to-back meetings, no corporate speak. Just good people, good code, and a healthy amount of memes in Slack.
So what you're going to do?
You'll own a whole module. Like, the entire thing. You figure out how it should work, you build it, you ship it, and you keep it alive after.
You'll wear a bunch of hats too: dev, debugger, part-time architect, and sometimes the person staring at logs going "wait, why is it doing that?" If that sounds fun, we'll get along great.
- You'll be: SDE Intern
- Where: Kochi, Kerala
- How long: 3 months and if things click, there's a full-time spot for you
What you'll actually do
- Build features people actually use, end to end
- Own a full module and make the calls on how it works
- Fix bugs (the easy ones and the "how did this ever work?" ones)
- Jump into code reviews, debugging sessions, product chats, and the occasional doc
- Ship small, ship often, break things less
Stuff you should be comfortable with
You don't need to be a pro at all of this. You just shouldn't panic when you see it.
- Node.js: you've built a backend or an API and async stuff doesn't scare you
- Postgres: you can write real queries and you know why indexes matter
- Redis: caching, sessions, rate limiting, that kind of thing
- OAuth: you know what's going on behind a "Login with Google" button
- Problem solving: you like poking at hard problems until they give up
The basics
Frameworks change every year. Fundamentals don't. We'd love it if you know your way around:
- Operating systems: processes, threads, memory, all that good stuff
- Databases: transactions, indexing, why a query suddenly got slow
- Networking: HTTP, TCP, DNS, what really happens when you hit enter on a URL
- DSA: enough to pick the right tool for the job
Why you'll like it here
- Your code goes to real users!
- You'll learn more in a few months here
- Flexible hours, zero micromanagement
- Ask anything, anytime. Nobody's judging
- Do great work and there's a full-time spot
