Mechanical Engineer (Robotic Arms)

Nirvana Robotics builds and deploys humanoid robots that work on real factory floors. The arms are what make the robots useful, and the team is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who has shipped real manipulator hardware.

What you'll do

• Own the mechanical design of robotic arms end to end: joints, actuators, transmissions, structures and end effectors.
• Design actuated joints and drivetrains for torque density, backdrivability, weight, stiffness and durability.
• Integrate motors, gearing (harmonic, cycloidal, quasi-direct-drive), bearings and sensors into compact, manufacturable assemblies.
• Run tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, FEA, and fastener and bearing selection.
• Prototype fast with 3D printing and CNC, then drive DFM/DFA with suppliers to scale to the factory floor.

What we're looking for

• BS, MS or PhD in ME, EE, Robotics or a related field.
• 5+ years designing and shipping electromechanical hardware with a bachelor's, or 3+ with a master's.
• Hands-on design of robotic arms, manipulators, actuated joints, grippers or comparable high-performance mechanisms.
• Expert in a major 3D CAD package (SolidWorks, Creo, NX or Onshape), with GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• A track record of taking designs from concept to validated hardware that shipped.

Good to know

• Full-time, onsite in New York City. Relocation within the US is an option.
