About the job
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Windows infrastructure engineer to support a hybrid production environment across Windows Server, Microsoft Azure Less, VMware, Hyper-V, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, F5, and legacy Citrix infrastructure. The resource will own assigned incidents and service requests, improve monitoring, perform approved infrastructure changes, and maintain clear technical documentation and client communication.
The successful candidate will be expected to take ownership of assigned activities, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, contribute to technical solutions, maintain high-quality documentation, and work closely with team members across Windows, virtualization, backup, cloud, networking and service-management functions.
Key responsibilities
• Windows operations. Troubleshoot server availability, CPU, memory, storage, Windows services, application dependencies, and event logs. Coordinate maintenance and verify application health after changes or reboots.
• Active Directory and identity. Administer approved user onboarding and offboarding, OUs, security groups, and Group Policy. Diagnose domain controller, authentication, replication, DNS, and DHCP issues; understand FSMO roles and hybrid identity dependencies.
• Virtualization and Azure. Support VMware vCenter, ESXi, Hyper-V, virtual machines, datastores, snapshots, networking, and resource allocation. Perform approved Azure VM and storage changes, capacity expansion, and migration preparation with validation and rollback plans.
• Monitoring and capacity. Configure and maintain Zabbix agents, dashboards, thresholds, service checks, and alert routing. Investigate alerts, analyze disk consumption, coordinate approved cleanup and log retention, and prevent recurring capacity incidents.
• Microsoft 365 and access governance. Handle approved group and distribution list changes, investigate mail flow, review license usage, reclaim approved unused assignments, and support Entra enterprise application and OAuth permission reviews with the security team.
• Legacy infrastructure inventory. Maintain F5 and Citrix component inventories, software versions, support status, dependencies, configuration backups, and known risks to support continuity and modernization planning.
• F5 operations. Support existing F5 BIG-IP load balancing, virtual servers, pools, health monitors, certificates, and HA/failover. Diagnose traffic issues, coordinate vendor cases, and perform approved changes with configuration backups and rollback plans.
• Legacy Citrix operations. Support published applications and desktops, user sessions, logon and profile issues, access components, licensing, and platform availability. Maintain legacy configurations and coordinate approved maintenance and recovery with application owners.
Key responsibilities continued
• Backup and recovery. Review Rubrik backup results and warnings, validate recovery points, coordinate restores and recovery testing, and maintain recovery procedures with application and database owners.
• Automation and documentation. Develop maintainable PowerShell scripts for health checks, inventory, disk analysis, and reporting. Maintain SOPs, runbooks, infrastructure diagrams, inventories, incident RCAs, and knowledge transfer records.
• Ticket and change ownership. Manage assigned Jira incidents, service requests, changes, and problems through closure. Maintain accurate progress, evidence, dependencies, approvals, and next actions; coordinate with NOC, security, network, application, DBA, and vendor teams.
Required skills
• Strong Windows Server administration and troubleshooting across Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and domain controller replication.
• Practical VMware and Hyper-V administration, including VM resources, storage, snapshots, availability, and basic virtual networking.
• Hands-on Azure VM and storage operations, Microsoft 365 administration, and Microsoft Entra ID access management.
• Practical support experience with F5 load balancing and legacy Citrix application or desktop delivery environments.
• PowerShell scripting, structured log analysis, monitoring configuration, and production incident diagnosis.
• Ability to assess business impact, obtain required approvals, execute controlled changes, and verify recovery or rollback.
• Clear spoken and written English, dependable shift attendance, proactive follow-up, and the ability to work independently with a USA client.
Preferred skills
Zabbix, Rubrik, RDS or AVD, hybrid identity using AD FS or Entra Connect, Microsoft Graph reporting, cloud migration assessment, and monitoring integrations with Jira, Teams, or Slack. Familiarity with AWS-hosted infrastructure and vendor coordination is useful.
Expected outcomes
• Take ownership of assigned production issues and provide timely updates until service is restored and closure is validated.
• Maintain reliable health and capacity monitoring, reduce repeat incidents, and track corrective actions to completion.
• Produce usable runbooks, accurate ticket records, and clear shift handovers covering open issues, risks, owners, and next actions.
• Complete approved optimization and maintenance work with evidence of results and validation from relevant service owners.
Application details
Candidates should provide an updated CV, relevant hands-on experience, availability or notice period, expected freelance rate, and confirmation of acceptance of the stated shift, month on month renewal, and no-PF engagement terms.
