About the Role

This position will own and continue developing the BrainRobotics proprietary mobile application and platform for our medical devices. Working from robotics and motion control specifications, the engineer will develop and maintain software spanning Flutter mobile, web, and internal tooling. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable refining established software and building new capabilities, takes full ownership across these surfaces, and brings informed ideas on how the platform should evolve in a technical environment focused on continued optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine, and maintain existing and new Flutter applications for iOS and Android, improving stability, performance, and scalability.
  • Integrate mobile application(s) with hardware device(s) through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity, device control, and telemetry.
  • Translate design drafts and technical specifications into pixel-faithful, production-grade UI for clinical and field environments, with multilingual (i18n/l10n) support, and contribute to usability, human factors, and HMI work.
  • Build and maintain web-based platforms, including the company website and internal admin tools for device management and versioned configuration across app and firmware releases.
  • Implement application security controls, including secure data transmission, authentication, and vulnerability management, in line with HIPAA, GDPR, and FDA cybersecurity requirements.
  • Own App Store and Google Play releases end to end and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitHub version control standards.
  • Produce clear technical documentation and support verification and validation within a regulated development lifecycle (IEC 62304).
  • Shape architecture decisions and provide technical guidance to team members and contracted engineers.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • Proficiency in Flutter and Dart for cross-platform iOS and Android development
  • Experience publishing to the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including build signing, environment packaging, and release management
  • Experience connecting mobile apps to hardware devices, ideally using BLE.
  • Proficiency with GitHub version control (branching strategies, pull request workflows) and designing CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications
  • Professional background in a regulated engineering environment
  • Comfort working in early-stage environments with evolving requirements and limited process structure
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
  • US work authorization

Preferred

  • Medical device or robotics engineering experience (FDA, EU MDR, ISO 13485, IEC 62304)
  • Demonstrated ownership of a mobile application, including adapting to framework and technology transitions as platform needs evolve
  • Experience with network layers (Dio, HTTP) and hardware telemetry or sensor data
  • Experience with i18n/l10n and database design for mobile applications
  • Experience coordinating or directing contracted engineering resources

Technical Environment

  • Mobile: Flutter, Dart (iOS and Android)
  • Web and Admin: Next.js, React
  • Tools and Platforms: GitHub, Jenkins, AWS, Apple App Store, Google Play Store
  • Additional Languages: Python, C, C++, C#
