About the job

We are looking for a Full-Stack Developer to build the platform clients use every day. At Palau, we’re building the ontology layer behind a company’s digital twin - helping organizations connect their data, structure and sustainability knowledge so AI applications can work with real business context.

For clients including Lindt, Pioneer and Umicore, that means turning complex relationships into something useful and actionable. An energy figure belongs to a site, a reporting period and a source. A policy applies to specific activities and business units. A change in one dataset can affect several reports and decisions. Those connections need to exist in the product - and that’s the kind of complexity we enjoy solving.

We’re a small, committed team building in climate tech for the long term. The space has changed, priorities have shifted, and we’ve heard 'no' more than once - but we’ve kept building because we believe the problem is worth solving.

As a Full-Stack Developer, you’ll help shape both the foundation of the product and the applications people use on top of it. You’ll work closely with the team, have real ownership, and speak directly with the clients who use what you build. The work is challenging, thoughtful and rewarding - especially if you enjoy solving complex problems and want to see the impact of your work up close. This is a full-time, in-house position with flexible remote work in the Flemish region.

What you’ll do

  • Build and maintain our ESG platform across the stack, with TypeScript and Next.js at its core.
  • Work with large and complex sustainability datasets — structuring, transforming and integrating data so it can be used reliably across the platform.
  • Own features end to end: clarify the need, design the solution, ship it and follow up.
  • Write clean, tested code and take part in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback.
  • Work with the CTO and back-end developers on APIs, data models, data flows and performance.
  • Bring ideas to improve the product, our tooling and how we work.

What we’re looking for

  • At least 3 years of professional software development experience, or a combination of QA and software development experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with TypeScript and Next.js, including React, REST APIs and server-side functions.
  • Experience working with PostgreSQL and Prisma.
  • Comfortable with modern deployment and infrastructure tooling, including Vercel and Docker.
  • Experience with AWS, ideally with services such as ECS, EC2, Lambda, Bedrock, Load Balancing, CloudWatch, S3 and Secrets Manager.
  • Experience building or integrating AI-powered functionality using Vercel AI SDK or similar AI SDKs.
  • Comfortable working with data-heavy products and interfaces; familiarity with data analytics or large datasets is a plus.
  • You understand every line you ship. AI tools are welcome; vibe coding is not.
  • Fluent English.
  • Based in the Flemish region of Belgium.

Nice to have

  • A master’s degree.
  • Experience with data visualization libraries and dashboards.
  • Experience with testing and QA practices (unit, integration or end-to-end tests).
  • Interest in sustainability, ESG or climate tech.

How we work

  • Ownership. You take initiative and drive your work forward without waiting for instructions.
  • Startup mentality. Things move fast, priorities shift, and you enjoy building something from the ground up.
  • Open communication. You speak up, ask questions and share problems early.
  • Quality. Every change goes through code review, and we care about code we can maintain.

What we offer

  • A full-time, in-house employment contract.
  • Flexible remote work, with our office in Antwerp available and no strict office policy.
  • Real ownership and a direct line to the founders in a small team.
  • Meaningful work that helps companies meet their sustainability goals.
