About the job
About SomaBox
SomaBox Learning Group is a behaviour change company that helps organisations build better workplaces through training and development. Behaviour change is hard, and our participants, who are managers and senior executives, need consistent support to put new behaviours into practice and make them habits. That is where you come in as our Coaching Associate.
What will you be doing?
We want to clearly define your responsibilities and how your performance will be measured, so that expectations are clear and you understand exactly what is required of you. All duties aligned here, follow the Participant Coaching SOP, which sets out how each is done and the KPIs reviewed at each step.
1. Coach and support participants
Your main role will be coaching and supporting our participants throughout the programme (which may last 1 to 5 months) on their behaviour change journey. This involves:
- Being available to answer participants' questions on the key topics being trained, and guiding them to develop a plan to apply a key behavior in their workplace. You will understand the content and the behaviours, help participants see where they are, and meet with them to create a behaviour change plan
- Analysing participants' submissions and responses to key questions to understand where there are gaps, where they are winning, and what they need to do next
- Holding occasional 10-minute meetings or equivalent phone calls to keep a cordial relationship, motivate them by celebrating their key wins, and check what barriers they face
- Keeping to the availability schedule we share with participants, so they never call and miss you
- Working with our instructional designers to understand where learners are and which behaviors they need to practise, and writing accurate drills (weekly behavior challenges). The aim is to ask meaningful questions, not to do the work for participants. We will train you in asking good questions
- Engaging your cohort (about 30 participants) on our hub to keep up momentum and motivation towards completing the programme. Once a week, you will post a creative question that gets participants talking.
- NOTE: This is a coaching and support role, not counselling or therapy, and you will refer participants to the right professional help if they need it.
2. Review behaviour change prompts and automations
To support your main role, you will review our automated communications to participants about once a week, to make sure they are accurate, timely, and helpful, and give us feedback on what you learned, what works, and what needs to change.
3. Support facilitators
You will get the chance to work alongside experienced coaches and facilitators in the course of implementing the programme. This will include answering participant questions, running the sessions, and supporting them to deliver the content, providing background coaching support so that facilitators can focus on facilitating.
4. Capture insights
We would love to see your personal insights of the participants, including which drills they should tackle each week, areas they are progressing and areas they are stalled so we can learn and adjust.
Most of our reporting is automated, so this is a small part of the job.
5. Light coordination
Your work will involve very little project coordination, especially at the very beginning of the programme to ensure that everything runs smoothly. This will involve:
- Setting up and ensuring that session links and schedules are correct and up to date, and that all participants and related facilitators have access to them,
- Ensuring that all participants have access to key session materials, and
- Keeping an eye out for problems and raising them with the team early.
What does growth look like for this role?
We are currently a small company but still committed to your growth and would like to highlight a few potential growth pathways based on your interests. These are not exhaustive, and we look forward to having growth conversations with you from day one to understand your aspirations and identify opportunities that align with your interests and development goals. Here are a few roles that you may grow into:
- Immediate: SomaBox Coaching Partner or Programme Success Manager
- Eventual: Instructional Designer
