About the job
Location: Redwood City, CA (in-office, 5 days a week)
Employment Type: Full-time
Hi! We are a recruiting agency, and we are looking for a Head of Product for our partner. This is a seed-stage, venture-backed AI-native platform that helps food, beverage, supplement, and pet food manufacturers manage supplier communications and procurement data.
The team currently consists of 10 people: 5 engineers, 3 BDRs, a founding designer, and an experienced founder and CEO who has successfully scaled venture-backed companies before.
Why This Role Exists
The company has strong engineers, real customers, and a working AI extraction pipeline. Until now, product has been handled part-time by the core team. An interim CPO recently established the foundational operating system, including a six-lane roadmap, weekly launch cadence, and deadline discipline. Your mission is to take over this system and make that discipline permanent.
Your Responsibilities:
- Prioritization and Saying "No": Establishing a framework to protect the roadmap and development focus from ad-hoc customer requests.
- Planning and Deadlines: Ensuring every project ties to business outcomes, has a written plan, a DRI, and realistic target dates.
- Launch Discipline: Managing product sign-off before deploy, preparing demo environments for sales, and shipping a customer-visible update every week.
- Single Source of Truth: Maintaining order in Linear, filtering out automated ticket noise, and ensuring absolute clarity for engineers.
- Product Discovery: Participating actively in prospect and customer calls to translate actual needs into precise engineering specs.
- Accountability: Catching timeline slips early, identifying root causes, and driving rapid fixes.
What We Are Looking For:
- 6+ years in product management, including experience as the most senior product person at an early-stage startup (Seed to Series B).
- Experience shipping B2B SaaS into unglamorous, workflow-heavy industries (experience with messy unstructured data, email, supply chain, or CPG is a major plus).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; concise and clear in specs, standups, and messaging.
- Strong analytical mindset, able to form opinions backed by data and logic while remaining flexible when evidence shifts.
- Practical familiarity with AI-assisted building and a clear-eyed understanding of its limitations.
- The courage to have difficult conversations: pushing back on engineer estimates, saying no to customers, and challenging leadership when necessary.
This Role Is Not for You If:
- You are a product strategist who needs a PM team to execute (you are the entire team).
- You avoid hard conversations or require total consensus to make a decision.
- You view process as an end in itself rather than a tool to ship faster.
- You are uncomfortable working on-site 5 days a week in Redwood City.
What the Company Offers:
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity for a foundational leadership hire.
- Direct reporting line to the CEO and daily collaboration with engineering leadership.
- Office location in Redwood City, CA (5 days a week).
How to Apply:
If this matches your background, send your resume and a brief note on why you are a fit.
