About Xero Shoes
Xero Shoes makes natural-movement footwear — minimalist, barefoot-inspired shoes, boots,
and sandals — built to let feet do what they’re designed to do. We’re a global brand with an
omnichannel model spanning direct-to-consumer e-commerce, wholesale, and international
distributor channels, with operating entities across the United States, the Netherlands, and the
Czech Republic.
Backed by private equity, we’re a fast-moving, dynamic company in a period of growth and
change. If you want real ownership, global complexity, and the chance to make an immediate
impact on a scaling finance function, this is the role.
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on, technically strong Controller to own day-to-day accounting
operations across our multi-entity, multi-currency global structure. Reporting directly to the CFO,
you’ll run the close, drive financial reporting under U.S. GAAP, prepare our quarterly SEC
filings, and maintain a strong internal controls environment. This is not a purely managerial role
— you’ll mentor and direct the team while working right alongside them, rolling up your sleeves
to close the books and take on hands-on project work directly.
You’ll lead a team of four accounting resources who work collaboratively together, and you’ll
partner closely with a lead FP&A resource who works alongside you and the accounting team.
Ours is a fast-paced, dynamic company where needs and projects change constantly. You’ll
need to be comfortable managing varying and shifting priorities, setting clear expectations with
stakeholders, and delivering on time — strong time management is critical.
What You’ll Do
• Own the monthly close process across all global entities (U.S., Netherlands B.V., Czech),
including consolidation and multi-currency / foreign currency translation
• Oversee the general ledger and core accounting operations: accounts payable, accounts
receivable, payroll, and treasury support
• Mentor and direct a team of four accounting resources, working right alongside them as
part of the team to get the work done
• Lead the preparation and filing of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and other SEC filings, ensuring
accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SEC regulations and U.S. GAAP
• Work closely with external auditors on the annual PCAOB audit and quarterly reviews
• Maintain, document, and continuously strengthen internal controls over financial reporting
• Provide support to our private equity owners and executive team, including preparing
board presentations and financial analyses
• Prepare statutory accounts and manage the audit of international entities
• Coordinate tax compliance across U.S. and international jurisdictions with outside advisors
• Oversee cash management and banking activities, including borrowing base reporting to
our lender
• Monitor accounts receivable, collections, and cash conversion
• Partner closely with the lead FP&A resource on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow
management
What You Bring
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and an active CPA license
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Hands-on accounting leadership experience, with the ability and willingness to work
directly in the details of the close, financial reporting, reconciliations, controls, and
accounting processes
• Industry background in consumer products, direct-to-consumer (DTC), e-commerce, retail,
footwear, or other inventory-intensive businesses
• Experience with international operations, foreign currency accounting, and multi-entity
consolidations
• Strong U.S. GAAP expertise; public accounting foundation preferred.
• First-hand experience running and managing an external audit, plus a solid understanding
of PCAOB audit requirements
• Comfort in a fast-paced, dynamic company where needs and projects change constantly
— able to manage varying and shifting priorities, set clear expectations with stakeholders,
and deliver on time; strong time management is critical
• Advanced Excel skills
