Position Summary
The Supply Chain Cost Analyst owns visibility into the full cost of moving product from factory to customer. This role tracks, analyzes, and reports on inbound and outbound freight, warehouse and fulfillment costs, and cost of goods sold (COGS), and identifies opportunities to reduce cost and protect margin. The analyst partners closely with Supply Chain, Finance, Sales, and Product Development, and serves as the source of truth for landed cost and supply chain spend.
Key Responsibilities
Freight and Logistics Costs (Inbound and Outbound)
- Track and analyze inbound ocean, air, and domestic freight costs, including container rates, drayage, accessorials, duties, and tariffs
- Track and analyze outbound freight costs for retail, club, e-commerce, and direct-to-consumer shipments (LTL, FTL, parcel)
- Audit carrier and freight forwarder invoices against contracted rates; identify and resolve billing discrepancies
- Maintain freight rate tables and support carrier and forwarder RFQs and rate negotiations with cost modeling
- Monitor freight cost per unit, per carton, and as a percentage of sales by channel, customer, and lane
Warehouse and Fulfillment Costs
- Track and analyze 3PL and warehouse costs, including storage, receiving, pick and pack, labor, and value-added services
- Audit 3PL invoices against contracted rate cards and activity data
- Analyze cost per order and cost per unit by channel and fulfillment node
- Model the cost impact of inventory levels, slow-moving stock, and network or 3PL changes
COGS and Landed Cost
- Build and maintain landed cost models by SKU, combining product cost, freight, duty, tariffs, and handling
- Partner with Finance to support standard cost setting, inventory valuation, and month-end COGS reconciliation
- Analyze COGS and gross margin variances by SKU, brand, channel, and customer, and explain key drivers
- Provide landed cost and margin inputs for new item costing, pricing decisions, and retailer quotes, including Direct Import programs
- Track tariff and duty exposure and model the impact of rate changes on product cost
Reporting, Budgeting, and Forecasting
- Own monthly supply chain cost reporting and KPI dashboards for leadership
- Prepare budget versus actual and forecast variance analysis for all supply chain cost lines
- Support the annual budget and periodic reforecasts for freight, warehousing, fulfillment, and COGS
- Maintain accurate cost data in NetSuite and related systems in partnership with Finance and Operations
Cost Reduction and Continuous Improvement
- Identify cost reduction opportunities across freight, warehousing, packaging, and fulfillment, and quantify savings
- Track realized savings against targets and report results
- Support process improvements and system enhancements that improve cost visibility and data accuracy
- Partner with Supply Chain, Sales, Product Development, and Finance on initiatives that affect cost and margin
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of experience in supply chain cost analysis, logistics finance, cost accounting, or a related analytical role
- Working knowledge of inbound and outbound freight (ocean, domestic, parcel), 3PL cost structures, and landed cost
- Understanding of COGS, standard costing, and inventory valuation
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial modeling)
- Experience with an ERP system; NetSuite preferred
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to explain cost drivers clearly to non-finance partners
Preferred
- Experience in consumer products, toys, or games, ideally with imported product sourced from Asia
- Familiarity with customs, duties, tariffs, and Direct Import programs with major retailers
- Experience with BI or reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar)
- Exposure to carrier, forwarder, or 3PL contract negotiations

The salary range for this role is $80,000.00 to $100,000.00 annually, plus eligible for an annual target bonus prorated from the start date. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith, believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s pay position within the wage range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. This compensation range may also be modified in the future.
