About the job

ABOUT THE ROLE

BidZoo is looking for a highly hands-on Performance Marketing Manager to take ownership of our growth marketing and help build demand for our live auction marketplace.

We are an early-stage company, so this is not a role for someone who wants to spend the first few months developing strategy, managing agencies, or waiting for a larger team to execute. We need someone who can come in, learn quickly, identify what needs to be done, and start executing immediately.

This person needs to be a true go-getter: proactive, resourceful, hardworking, comfortable moving quickly, and willing to personally get into the details. You should be equally comfortable building and optimizing a Meta campaign, reviewing funnel data, creating a landing page, setting up an email or SMS flow, testing creative, troubleshooting tracking, and figuring out what to do next based on the results.

The right person will take ownership without needing constant direction and will be excited by the opportunity to build the growth function of an early-stage marketplace.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Own and execute BidZoo’s performance marketing strategy with an immediate focus on increasing qualified bidders, auction participation, and repeat usage.

• Personally build, launch, manage, and optimize paid campaigns with our social and growth manager, with Meta as an immediate priority and Google, TikTok, Reddit, and other channels tested as appropriate.

• Develop auction-specific campaigns around the inventory and products most likely to attract bidders rather than relying on generic brand advertising.

• Manage paid media budgets directly and make ongoing decisions about where to increase, decrease, or stop spend based on performance.

• Develop and continuously test audiences, retargeting strategies, creative, messaging, offers, and campaign structures.

• Work closely with our team to identify the strongest items and categories to promote for each auction.

• Build and improve landing pages and conversion funnels to support paid campaigns and auction-specific promotions.

• Create, test, and improve email and SMS lifecycle campaigns, including auction reminders, re-engagement, retention, and win-back campaigns.

• Own marketing funnel measurement from initial acquisition through signup, pre-bid, live-auction participation, bidding, purchase, and repeat participation.

• Work hands-on with GA4, GTM, Meta Pixel, UTMs, attribution, and conversion tracking to ensure campaigns are being measured correctly.

• Identify tracking or funnel issues and actively work through them rather than simply reporting that something is not working.

• Build and maintain practical dashboards and weekly reporting that clearly show what is working, what is not, and where marketing resources should be focused.

• Use campaign and marketplace data to identify drop-offs in the buyer funnel and recommend specific improvements.

• Develop creative concepts and direct-response messaging for paid campaigns, working with internal resources as needed while being capable of moving campaigns forward independently.

• Work closely with social, product, design, and technology while maintaining clear ownership of marketing execution and results.

• Document successful campaigns, audiences, creative, workflows, and tests so that winning approaches can be repeated and scaled.

• Continuously identify new growth opportunities and take initiative to test them rather than waiting to be assigned every project.

• Hire new roles for the team based on marketing needs.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in performance marketing, growth marketing, ecommerce, marketplaces, or a closely related environment.

• Strong hands-on Meta Ads experience, including campaign setup, audience development, retargeting, creative testing, budget optimization, and conversion optimization.

• Experience personally managing meaningful paid media budgets and making day-to-day optimization decisions.

• Demonstrated experience personally launching campaigns and funnels rather than primarily managing agencies or outside teams.

• Strong working knowledge of GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, conversion tracking, UTMs, attribution, and campaign measurement.

• Experience building and optimizing landing pages and conversion funnels.

• Hands-on experience with email and/or SMS lifecycle marketing, including segmentation, triggers, reminders, re-engagement, and testing.

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to connect marketing activity to actual business outcomes rather than focusing only on clicks, impressions, or leads.

• Ability to understand and troubleshoot technical marketing issues. You do not need to be a software developer, but light technical work should not stop you from moving forward.

• Strong creative judgment and the ability to develop, brief, evaluate, and improve performance creative and copy.

• Highly proactive and resourceful. You see something that needs to be done and take ownership of it.

• Strong work ethic and willingness to move quickly in an early-stage environment.

• Comfortable working without a large team, established playbook, or extensive existing processes.

• Able to balance speed with attention to detail and follow projects through to completion.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

NICE TO HAVE

• Experience with marketplaces, auctions, live commerce, collectibles, trading cards, memorabilia, luxury goods, or enthusiast communities.

• Experience marketing a two-sided marketplace.

• HubSpot experience.

• Experience with programmable SMS platforms and email marketing platform such as Klayvio.

• Familiarity with APIs, webhooks, CRM integrations, and marketing automation tools.

• Experience with lightweight HTML/CSS/JavaScript or modern landing-page tools.

• Experience with GitHub and deployment platforms such as Netlify or Vercel.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Success in this role means marketing is moving quickly and consistently without requiring leadership to drive every next step.

Campaigns are being launched, tested, measured, and improved every week. We understand which channels, audiences, creative, categories, and auction items are bringing in bidders who actually participate, not simply generating inexpensive traffic or leads.

The Performance Marketing Manager is proactively identifying opportunities and problems, testing solutions, and using the results to determine what happens next.

Most importantly, this person takes ownership. They are comfortable getting into the work themselves, moving quickly, learning from results, and continuously pushing BidZoo’s growth forward.

COMPENSATION

• $115,000 - $125,000
• Full-time contracted, fully remote position.
• Compensation may vary slightly based on experience.
• Potential for equity later on
