Chief Architect

Job Description

The Chief Architect is the single person who holds coherence across the entire system: business intent, domain model, event contracts, agentic architecture, and pod-level feature design simultaneously. In an AI-native DLC, the vocabulary pods use to express intent, the ontologies the Domain Architect defines, and the event schemas the Platform Architect publishes must all be consistent expressions of the same underlying model. When they diverge and they will this role arbitrates.

You will own

• Programme-wide architectural vision and coherence across all layers
• ADR process and final escalation for cross-pod architectural decisions
• Bridge between functional business requirements and technical system design
• Consistency between domain ontology, event schemas, and agentic harness contracts

What you will do

• Own and communicate the programme-wide architectural vision; ensure all pod tech leads build toward it.
• Resolve cross-pod architectural conflicts; produce the definitive ADR for decisions spanning multiple pods.
• Review feature intent specs before each wave for architectural coherence across the full system
• Ensure domain model, event schemas, and harness contracts are consistent expressions of the same system.
• Act as technical escalation to CTO for decisions above individual pod authority.
• Designate and develop a shadow architect who can cover critical decisions in your absence.

Must-have skills

• 12+ years in architecture roles spanning both domain/business and distributed technical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to translate business capability requirements into technical decisions — and reverse.
• Deep fluency in event-driven architecture, distributed systems, and API contract governance.
• Experience governing architecture across multiple concurrent delivery teams with hard external milestones.
• Strong written communication: ADRs and architecture principles that teams build against without ambiguity.

GlobalLogic estimates the starting pay range for this role to be performed in USA is 180K to 220K, and reflects base salary only. This pay range is provided as a good faith estimate and the amount offered may be higher or lower. GlobalLogic takes many factors into consideration in making an offer, including candidate qualifications, work experience, operational needs, travel and onsite requirements, internal peer equity, prevailing wage, responsibilities, and other market and business considerations.
