Senior Software Engineer – Python / TypeScript

About the role

We are seeking senior software engineers with a strong eye for quality to support data collection, evaluation workflows, and engineering infrastructure. You will work closely with researchers and engineers, communicate technical findings clearly, and deliver in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain pipelines and infrastructure supporting data generation, collection, and evaluation workflows.
• Design, refine, and iterate on rubrics and evaluation criteria for preference data.
• Review and label data, identifying subtle quality issues.
• Summarize findings in clear write-ups, updates, and actionable recommendations.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers to translate qualitative judgment into scalable processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with proficiency in Python or TypeScript, JavaScript, or Golang.
• Strong preference for hands-on experience with pipelines and infrastructure, data collection, preference data, rubric creation, or similar evaluation and data-focused engineering work.
• Experience navigating or contributing to large codebases is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to distill complex technical work into clear, actionable summaries.
• Sound technical judgment and a high standard for quality.

Contract details

• Employment: Contract; short-term assignment lasting 3 months.
• Start: Immediate.
• Location: Fully remote — United States and Canada, subject to eligible regions.
• Openings: 200.
• Availability: At least 4 hours per day and a minimum of 20 hours per week, with at least 4 hours of overlap with Pacific Time.
• Compensation: $100–$150/hour.
• Contractor assignment; no medical benefits or paid leave.
