Role Description The Chief Engineer – Liquid Cooling is a full-time, on-site role based in the Washington DC-Baltimore Area. This role oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of liquid cooling systems within complex facilities, ensuring reliable, energy-efficient operation of critical infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing engineering projects, coordinating installation and commissioning activities, conducting performance and safety assessments, and optimizing system performance through data analysis and continuous improvement. The Chief Engineer collaborates closely with facilities teams, vendors, and stakeholders to develop technical standards, resolve operational issues, and ensure regulatory and company compliance. The role also involves supervising and mentoring engineering staff, managing budgets and schedules, and preparing technical documentation and reports to support decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in liquid cooling systems, HVAC or mechanical systems, and facility infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, resource coordination, and vendor management.
  • Strong skills in system analysis, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance optimization for complex technical environments.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements relevant to mechanical and cooling systems.
  • Ability to lead and develop engineering teams, delegate tasks effectively, and foster a culture of safety and quality.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation, reporting, and use of engineering tools or software for design and monitoring.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; advanced certifications or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure are a plus.
  • Prior experience in mission-critical environments (such as data centers or high-performance facilities) is highly beneficial.
