About Layered
Layered is a growing creative business focused on developing and bringing new products and ideas to life.
Our small team handles the creative and development side of the business. We're looking for someone who can take the work we've created and help move it through the last mile—getting products published, keeping information organized, following up on outstanding tasks, and making sure good ideas don't get stuck waiting on one small detail.
This role is intentionally flexible. We care much more about reliable results and communication than when you complete the work.
What You'll Do
Your responsibilities will generally fall into two areas:
Content & Publishing
- Prepare and lightly edit product photos using basic photo-editing tools.
- Upload and publish product listings to our website and other designated platforms.
- Write clear, concise product descriptions and short-form content using information we provide.
- Help maintain and update existing listings as needed.
- Respond to basic customer questions using provided information or templates.
- Help publish content to designated social media platforms.
Task & Project Follow-Through
- Track upcoming tasks and deliverables using our task-management system.
- Monitor whether the information or materials needed for a task have been provided.
- Follow up with us when something is missing, unclear, or approaching its due date.
- Keep project information organized and up to date.
- Communicate when priorities change or when something affects the original plan.
- Help make sure completed work actually gets across the finish line.
We're Looking For Someone Who...
- Is highly organized and pays attention to details.
- Has strong written communication skills.
- Can work independently without needing constant direction.
- Is comfortable following established processes and instructions.
- Is reliable about following through on commitments.
- Is comfortable asking questions or requesting an update when something is needed.
- Has basic photo-editing skills.
- Is familiar with common social media platforms and web-based tools.
- Can manage their own time effectively.
Previous experience in administrative support, operations, virtual assistance, content coordination, e-commerce, or a similar role is welcome, but it isn't required.
What matters most to us is finding someone who is dependable, organized, resourceful, and good at getting things done.
If You Have Ideas, We Want to Hear Them
The core of this position is execution—not developing our overall business or marketing strategy.
However, we're absolutely open to someone who sees an opportunity and thinks, "I could make that better."
If you have experience with social media, content creation, e-commerce, photography, copywriting, or other creative work, there may be opportunities to take more initiative in those areas as you become familiar with the business.
You won't be expected to come in and reinvent everything. But if you have a good idea, we'd rather hear it than have you keep it to yourself.
What This Job Looks Like
We're a small team, so this role is a little different from a traditional administrative position.
We'll provide the products, information, priorities, and basic systems. You'll help turn those things into completed, published, organized work.
Some weeks may involve primarily publishing products and preparing content. Other weeks may involve more task follow-up and project coordination. The workload will change as the business changes.
You'll have one regular weekly meeting with the team to review priorities and upcoming work. Outside of that meeting, you can generally organize your hours around your own schedule.
We're looking for someone who can eventually look at the workflow and think:
"I know what needs to happen next."
Compensation & Schedule
- $20/hour
- 10–20 hours per week
- Paid weekly
- Flexible schedule
- Remote
- U.S.-based
- 1099 independent contractor
- Week-to-week engagement to start
- One scheduled team meeting per week
This is intended to be a consistent supplemental position, with the flexibility to work around your existing schedule.
Who Might Enjoy This Role?
This could be a particularly good fit for someone who:
- Currently works in an administrative or operations role and enjoys organized, behind-the-scenes work.
- Wants flexible supplemental income.
- Likes completing tasks and keeping things moving.
- Has a creative side they'd enjoy using occasionally.
- Enjoys social media or e-commerce but doesn't necessarily want a full-time marketing job.
- Is comfortable being the person who notices, "Hey, we're still waiting on that."
If you take pride in being the person who keeps the wheels turning, we'd like to hear from you.
How to Apply
Please submit your resume and the requested information through our application form.
We're less interested in finding someone with a perfect résumé than we are in finding someone who is organized, dependable, communicative, and genuinely interested in the work.
