Position Overview

The Senior Financial Analyst coordinates and manages budget and strategic planning processes across multiple business units. This role works closely with leaders at all levels to gather, analyze, and interpret data, providing actionable recommendations to drive cost savings, revenue growth, and alignment with the organization’s financial strategies. Serving as a trusted business partner, the Senior Financial Analyst ensures financial insights support operational and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze current and projected performance against internal targets, competitor results, and industry trends; recommend cost-saving and profit-generating opportunities.
  • Develop, interpret, and apply advanced financial concepts, models, and techniques for planning, forecasting, and control.
  • Propose accounting adjustments based on financial statement reviews, with Accounting’s review and approval.
  • Build and maintain accurate management reporting tools and dashboards to track performance versus budget, forecast, and prior years.
  • Lead the preparation of the annual budget, consolidating data from multiple sources and ensuring timely communication of key deadlines and deliverables.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior leadership comparing actual results to budget, forecast, and strategic growth goals.
  • Facilitate the Five-Year Strategic Plan process, including forecast modeling, data analysis, and presentation development for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare and update “downhill” projections by applying insights from business reviews to year-end performance targets.
  • Serve as a liaison between assigned business units and Finance/Accounting, ensuring alignment on initiatives, financial impacts, and reporting needs.
  • Partner with leaders to assess business opportunities and risks, including acquisitions, new product launches, trade and advertising investments, market expansion, and supply chain initiatives.
  • Recommend operational or system enhancements in collaboration with Accounting and Information Services to meet evolving business needs.
  • Educate business managers on financial principles, budgeting, and return-on-investment considerations.
  • Mentor and provide feedback to Financial Analyst I and II team members, supporting the development of technical and business acumen.
  • Review and provide guidance on financial analyses, projections, and recommendations prepared by junior analysts.
  • Champion process improvements to enhance efficiency, data accuracy, and decision-making quality.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects while meeting tight deadlines.
  • May be asked to perform additional duties as necessary.

(Note— Sr. Financial Analysts are generally responsible for multiple strategic business units which are closely related. The analyst will likely be required to perform tasks associated with the total company. The duties and responsibilities above are general in nature and can typically be applied to each business unit. However, these individuals are also responsible for understanding highly specialized areas of the business such as green coffee manufacturing, trade spending, marketing effectiveness measurements, etc. Those responsibilities are further defined in annual performance goals for the individual.)

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance from a four-year college or university required.
  • 4 years of experience in strategic analysis or a related role.
  • CPA, CMA, or similar certification preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA is a plus.
  • Internal Only: Experience with Community Coffee, even if unrelated, may fulfill this requirement at the discretion of the hiring manager with approval from Human Resources.
