Job Summary
This position is based out of Tucson, AZ, but will remotely manage a small team of Software Engineers based throughout the U.S. This position offers fully remote capabilities within the U.S. We are welcoming local and remote applicants.
The Manager – Software Development is responsible for leading a team of software developers, focusing on people management, process management, process improvement, and project oversight. This role ensures team alignment with organizational goals, fosters a high-performance culture, and supports delivery of software solutions through effective coordination and communication. While technical experience is required, active coding is not a core responsibility.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead a distributed team of Software Developers with emphasis on performance management, career development, and coaching.
- Facilitate planning activities (iteration planning, release planning, quarterly planning) and ensure team commitments are tracked and met.
- Maintain visibility into team workload, specific assignments, and project status; provide regular updates to senior leadership.
- Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to the evolution of development workflows and standards
- Ensure consistent application of software development practices across the team.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, QA, and other Software Development Managers to ensure solution alignment and timely delivery.
- Recruit for open positions and onboard new team members.
- Encourage knowledge sharing and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Provide technical guidance when needed; ability to contribute to codebase is a plus.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
