About the job
Senior Technical Marketing Engineer
Remote, U.S. (Travel up to 25%)
Reports to: Lab Lead, FarmGPU AI Lab
Employment status: Full-time
About FarmGPU
FarmGPU operates bare-metal NVIDIA GPU clusters (H100, H200, and B200) for AI developers, enterprises, and research organizations through RunPod Secure Cloud and direct enterprise deployments. From our facility in Rancho Cordova, we own the full stack: datacenter networking, RDMA fabrics, GPU server operations, and high-performance storage built for AI training and inference.
The FarmGPU AI Lab is our independent validation lab. Storage vendors, silicon makers, and ISVs bring us their hardware and software, and we put it through its paces on production-grade infrastructure. Most engagements end in published work: whitepapers, reference architectures, and technical and solutions briefs, plus industry benchmark submissions such as MLPerf Storage v3.0.
We're building a small, senior team dedicated to a flagship validation program with a strategic storage partner. The team builds the systems, runs the tests, and stands behind the numbers when they go public.
The Role
This is a technical marketing role for someone who has done the testing. You'll turn benchmark data and engineering findings into blogs, benchmark reports, whitepapers, reference architectures, and solutions briefs that land with infrastructure buyers and hold up under expert scrutiny. You'll also get your hands dirty: running tests, validating results, and building real understanding of every platform you write about.
The best technical content comes from people who have done the work. If you've spent years testing servers, storage, GPUs, and networking gear, and writing about what you found in a way people actually want to read, this role was built for you.
What You'll Do
Content & Collateral
- Own the lab's content pipeline: blog posts, benchmark reports, whitepapers, reference architectures, technical briefs, and solutions briefs.
- Find the story in the data: turn raw results and engineering analysis into a clear narrative without overstating what the data shows.
- Build collateral for partners and events: slide decks, one-pagers, demo scripts, and conference presentations.
- Write for every audience: methodology for the engineers, the takeaway for the executives, and the judgment to know which piece needs which.
Hands-On Testing & Validation
- Test platforms yourself: servers, SSDs, GPUs, networking, and software stacks, in the lab and alongside the engineering team.
- Validate every claim: reproduce key results, check configurations, and make sure every published number traces back to a run.
- Get in early: evaluate new hardware and software early so the content is ready when the product is.
Partners & Go-to-Market
- Coordinate co-marketing with partners and ISVs: joint content, review and approval cycles, embargoes, and launch timing.
- Know the rules of the road: benchmark disclosure requirements, embargo terms, and results-usage guidelines from bodies like MLCommons.
- Represent the lab publicly: at industry events, on panels and podcasts, and across social channels.
- Work with FarmGPU marketing to keep messaging, brand, and distribution consistent.
What You Bring
- 8+ years in technical marketing, technical writing, or technology journalism covering enterprise infrastructure, storage, compute, or networking, with a published portfolio to prove it.
- Extensive hands-on testing experience across many platforms (servers, storage systems, SSDs, GPUs, networking), including building test setups and running industry-standard benchmarks.
- Marketing instincts: you know how to position a result, build a campaign around it, and measure whether it worked.
- Technical depth to talk NVMe, PCIe, RDMA, GPU architecture, and AI workloads credibly with engineers.
- Data literacy: comfortable with benchmark data, charts, and basic statistics. You catch a misleading chart before it ships.
- Editorial judgment and speed: clean, confident copy on deadline, in a voice people want to read.
- Comfort presenting on stage, on camera, and in partner briefings.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% for lab time in Rancho Cordova, partner meetings, and industry events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hardware review or technical media background, running lab-based product evaluations.
- Technical Marketing Engineer experience at a storage, server, silicon, or networking vendor.
- AI infrastructure experience: GPU servers, training and inference workloads, and AI storage.
- Familiarity with MLPerf, SPEC, or other industry benchmark programs and their publication rules.
- Video, podcast, or livestream production.
- Web publishing and analytics: CMS, SEO, and content performance tracking.
- An existing audience or network in the storage, HPC, or AI infrastructure community.
- Fluency with AI tools for research, drafting, and editing, with the judgment to keep your own voice.
What Success Looks Like
- A steady, predictable cadence of published lab content, with partner approvals landing in one or two review rounds.
- Every published claim traces to data and holds up under expert scrutiny.
- Content that drives measurable engagement and partner demand.
- A recognizable voice for the FarmGPU AI Lab across the storage and AI infrastructure community.
Why FarmGPU?
- A story worth telling. Next-generation hardware, production GPU infrastructure, and results worth writing about.
- A real lab behind you. You're remote, but you can book time on the hardware and test it yourself.
- Work that goes public. Your content gets published by FarmGPU and our partners and presented at major industry events.
- Industry reach. FarmGPU leads the OCP neocloud workgroup, and your work reaches the people building AI infrastructure.
- Small, senior team. A direct line to the engineers producing the data, and real latitude on voice and format.
Compensation
- $120,000 to $200,000 base salary, depending on experience.
- Full-time, remote position (U.S.), with travel up to 25% to Rancho Cordova, CA, partner sites, and industry events.
Culture & Fit
FarmGPU is a small team running serious infrastructure. We value people who are close to the work, communicate directly, and close the loop, not people who create process for its own sake.
AI-first by default. We use AI to move faster across every function. For this role that means using AI to research, outline, and accelerate drafts, while the voice, the judgment, and the accuracy stay yours.
High agency. You see a gap, you own it end to end: identify → decide → execute → document.
Direct communication. If the data doesn't support the headline, we change the headline.
Builders, not tourists. You understand what we publish because you've run it yourself.
Radically transparent. Results, methodology, and partner context are visible internally, and we expect you to use them.
